At HomeCo, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our household management platform. We believe in transparency and want you to understand exactly how we handle your data.

We use this information to verify Student eligibility, provide one year of free Student eligibility and protect the verification process from abuse.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide our service: Create your account, manage your household, and sync data across devices
- Send notifications: Remind you about tasks, alert you to new expenses, and keep you informed
- Improve HomeCo: Understand how people use the app to make it better
- Communicate with you: Respond to support requests and send important updates
- Ensure security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
- Manage trials and memberships: Record your no-card trial, confirm purchases, maintain entitlements and respond to subscription, cancellation and refund events
- Verify Students: Send verification messages and determine whether Student access is active
Purpose limitation: We use personal data for the purposes described in this policy. Household content is not used to serve targeted advertising in HomeCo. Website analytics and the service providers that process data for us are described below.
Data Security
We use technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the service, including:
- Data in transit: Supported HomeCo clients and services use HTTPS/TLS when transmitting data
- Provider infrastructure: We rely on cloud, authentication, messaging and subscription providers and their security controls
- Access controls: We use account and home membership checks to limit access to household content
- Operational access: Authorised personnel and service providers may process data when needed to operate, support, secure or comply with legal obligations for the service
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Use a strong, unique password, protect access to your device and keep your operating system and HomeCo app updated.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to operate HomeCo:
Cloud Hosting
Cloud and authentication providers host account and household data and apply their own infrastructure and security controls.
Website Analytics
We use Google Analytics on the website to receive device, browser and interaction information under our analytics configuration.
App Analytics
When enabled in a production app build, Vexo receives navigation and custom feature events, device platform, your HomeCo user ID and email address while signed in, and diagnostic events such as error messages and stack information. We use this information to understand app use and investigate operational problems.
Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service to send you alerts.
App Stores and RevenueCat
Apple App Store or Google Play processes paid memberships. RevenueCat receives and organises store-provided purchase and entitlement metadata so HomeCo can determine whether Housemate or Whole Home access is active. This can include a HomeCo-linked app user identifier, product and store, transaction or receipt identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, entitlement status and refund or cancellation events. HomeCo does not receive your full payment-card details.
Student Verification Email
We use Resend to deliver Student verification messages. Resend processes the university email address, message content and technical delivery data needed to send those emails. HomeCo records whether a verification message was sent, but does not currently ingest Resend bounce or complaint events.
These providers process the categories of data described above according to the feature you use and their role in providing the service. Their own privacy terms also apply to their processing.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights such as:
- Access: Request access to personal data we hold about you, subject to applicable exceptions
- Correction: Update or correct your personal information
- Deletion: Request account and personal-data deletion, subject to the retention exceptions below
- Portability: Request a portable copy where applicable law provides that right; HomeCo does not currently offer an in-app data-export feature
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications (you'll still receive essential service updates)
- Restriction or objection: Ask us to restrict or stop certain processing where applicable
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
The rights available, verification required and any exceptions depend on your location and the applicable law. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Data Retention
Retention depends on the type of data and why it is needed:
- Active accounts: Account and household data is generally retained while needed to provide the service
- Account deletion: You can request account deletion in the app. A request may require you first to resolve a Whole Home sponsorship or shared payment responsibility. After deletion succeeds, HomeCo removes your account, profile, access and home memberships; shared-home records may remain as described below. Deleting your HomeCo account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it separately in the store's subscription settings.
- Leaving a household: Leaving or being removed ends your access to that household. Records you contributed may remain available to other members and may retain attribution or be de-identified, depending on the feature and applicable retention requirements.
Some data, including limited transaction, entitlement or Student verification records, may be retained where required or permitted for legal compliance, accounting, dispute handling, fraud and abuse prevention, or to preserve shared-home records for other members. Retention can also be affected by backup cycles and service-provider processes.
Children's Privacy
HomeCo is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we've collected information from a child under 13, we'll promptly delete it.
Users between 13 and 18 should get parental consent before using HomeCo. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information can contact us at [email protected].
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification
- For major changes, we may ask for your consent to continue
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of HomeCo after changes means you accept the updated policy.
