In an emergency — medical, fire, flood, or break-in — the last thing you want is to be searching for phone numbers. A household emergency contact sheet, posted visibly in the kitchen or hallway, could make all the difference.
What to Include
☐ Emergency services: 112 (Europe), 999 (UK), 911 (US)
☐ Local police non-emergency number
☐ Nearest hospital and urgent care address
☐ Nearest 24-hour pharmacy
☐ Landlord name and phone number
☐ Building manager / superintendent
☐ Gas emergency line
☐ Water company emergency line
☐ Electricity company emergency line
☐ Insurance company and policy number
☐ Each roommate's emergency contact (family/friend)
☐ Each roommate's blood type and allergies
☐ Neighbour contact (if friendly and willing)
☐ Building fire assembly point
Keep It Current
Review and update the emergency contact sheet every time someone moves in or out, or when you switch utility providers. Assign one roommate to own this task and review it quarterly.
