The student owns the cleanup: collect debris, wipe splashes, rinse only where allowed, dry the tray, and return shared access promptly. Do not leave muddy water for the next person or expect someone else to identify field material.
Before the next trip, inspect the boots, bag, and tray under good light. A clean boot paired with a dirty bag can move the same debris. Keep gear for sites with special biosecurity requirements isolated as the course directs.
Keep field gear from becoming roommate gear
Label the brush, tray, and transport bag by owner. A housemate should not grab the field brush for a grill, balcony, or pet crate, and the student should not take a communal scrub brush into the field. Separate ownership prevents an unnoticed transfer in both directions. Replace damaged containers promptly, and inspect shelves below stored gear for falling grit or leaked water after each course outing.
